Academic Program
Founded in 1949, the University of New South Wales is now home to over 50,000 students, including more than 14,000 international students from over 130 countries. Ranked in the top 40s in the QS World University Rankings, UNSW is regarded as one of the top universities in Australia and the world. The University of New South Wales is a member of the prestigious Australian "Group of Eight," which is a coalition of leading Australian universities that are intensive in research and comprehensive in general and professional education. UNSW has an excellent reputation for its Engineering, Business, and English Literature departments.

City Information

UNSW’s main campus is located in Kensington, a southeastern suburb of Sydney. Kensington is approximately a twenty-minute drive from both Sydney’s central business district and the airport, as well as about five minutes from Coogee Beach – one of Australia’s top beaches – and 30 minutes from Sydney’s City Centre. In fact, UNSW is the closest university to an ocean beach in Australia. With over 4 million inhabitants, Sydney is the largest city in Australia. Further, the QS ‘Best Student Cities Rankings’ rated Sydney is #1 in Australia, and #4 worldwide.

Students have the option to live in on-campus dormitories or furnished off-campus housing organized by UNSW Study Abroad.

Program Fee

Tuition is based on residency status:

For Resident Students: This is an exchange program. Students will pay their normal Iowa State University tuition and fees. Regular scholarship financial aid can be used when participating in this program.

For Non-Resident Students: This is a flat fee program. The flat fee cost is less than ISU Non-Resident tuition. Regular scholarship financial aid can be used when participating in this program.
