Program Description:


Students will visit comparable work settings in Iowa and Scotland to gain an understanding of occupational safety climate culture, and regulatory environment in the United States (US) and United Kingdom (UK). They will be able to compare and contrast US and UK safety education and industry implementation. Also, students will be exposed to historical and cultural sites and activities allowing for an opportunity for a more well-rounded view of the two cultures.

Scotland Scenic View



Course Information:
TSM 496, 3 credits, Spring 2016,

Course will travel over Spring Break 2016, but will meet throughout the Spring 2016 semester.
Tentative dates of travel are: March 11 - March 19, 2016

Application Requirements:

The ISUAbroad online application, including a 250 word essay, and your current resume (these will be included in your online application).


Criteria for Selection:

2.50 GPA, with more than 60 academic credits.  There will also be a personal interview.


Skills and Additional Requirements:

Traveler must own safety shoes and safety glasses, be willing to be flexible with schedules and travel situations, be able to walk for multiple hours, and be able to carry luggage as needed.

Program Cost:

Program Fee: $3,500.00-$4,000 (includes: airfare, lodging, transportation, some group meals, required CISI health and emergency insurance).

Out of Pocket Expenses: approximately $350 for meals on own, $150 suggested for incidentals (snacks, souvenirs, etc), $105 Study Abroad Admin Fee charged by SAC 3224 MU, $10 application fee.

The program fee will be billed to your Spring 2016 UBill.
