Here, There, and Everywhere
Beatles Seminar

            

PROGRAM OVERVIEW
Your ticket to Ride begins in London as we explore British culture and trace the Beatles rise to fame via the long and winding road stretching from Penny Lane to Abbey Road. We will take a Magical Mystery Tour through Liverpool, visiting the childhood homes and stomping grounds of the Fab Four. Our journey concludes in London with a day of exploration and reflection on our Beatles study abroad experience.

COURSE INFORMATION
Students should take, or have taken the “Here, There, and Everywhere” Beatles seminar, INTST 395/HON 322. The Beatles seminar class meets for 8 weeks, the 1st half of the semester, Tuesdays 6-8 pm, January 8 - February 27, 2018.

Pre-departure preparations will take place on Saturday, February 24, 2018 from 10:00 am – 12:30 pm. Study Abroad component in London and Liverpool will be held over spring break: Thursday, March 8-Sunday, March 18, 2018.
 
Throughout the study abroad component, you will:
  • Reflect upon the influence of the Beatles on 1960s culture and beyond.
  • Deepen your understanding of British culture and social references through field trips, reflections, journaling, and group processing.
  • Develop international perspectives through engagement outside your country of origin.

INSURANCE
All participants in this program will be automatically enrolled in CISI, an international health insurance and emergency service plan. This insurance plan is required for all undergraduate and graduate students participating in ISU study abroad programs. The cost of the plan is $1.31 per day, and it has been built into the cost of the program fee. More information is available at the links below:

WITHDRAWAL FEES
The application deadline for Spring Break 2018 is Nov. 30th, 2017. Accepted participants will be notified on a rolling basis upon submission of completed application. One you are accepted to participate, you must either commit to or decline your offer in the ISUAbroad online application system. Those students who commit to participate are officially part of the program and will be responsible for all program costs listed on the ISUAbroad budget sheet. If you withdraw, you will be responsible for the withdrawal penalty outlined below, in addition to all non-recoverable program payments the college is obligated to make on your behalf. Appeals are possible in certain extenuating circumstances that involve family or medical emergencies. Charges will be applied to your U-bill.
