SOLVAY BRUSSELS SCHOOL OF ECONOMICS AND MANAGEMENT
Administered by the Study Abroad Center for the College of Business ****** Classes in English ******
If ever a city could claim split personality, it’s Brussels. French versus Flemish, historic versus hip, bizarre versus boring. Full of contrasts, contradictions and intrigue, this is a multicultural equation that goes much deeper than just red tape and Eurocrats. An historic heirloom is closer to the mark. And in an age where so much is already discovered, Belgium’s capital seduces as one of Western Europe’s unknowns.
This ISU exchange allows ISU students to spend a semester or full academic year at Solvay Brussels School of Economics and Management, while a Solvay student comes here for a comparable period of study. You will pay ISU tuition and fees and receive tuition credit at Solvay.
You must have a GPA of 3.00 or higher and have achieved at least sophomore standing to be considered as a candidate for this exchange. In addition to good academic standing you cannot be on academic or disciplinary probation. You will apply for the program through ISUAbroad, including submission of academic transcripts and two letters of academic recommendation. Brussels is both the capital of Belgium and the home of NATO and the EU headquarters. It is the European base for a large number of international corporations (more than 1,000 from the US).Brussels is a great and historic city conveniently located just two hours from Paris, London, Amsterdam and Berlin.Metropolitan Brussels has a population of approximately 1.8 million and is the home for some 300.000 expats,it is incredibly cosmopolitan, and yet Brussels remains a very relaxed and laid-back town, which manages to keep its human scale.
Ripe with all the facilities and entertainment you would expect from a capital city, from hotels and restaurants to museums and famous monuments, Brussels is still easy to get around. Outside rush hour you can cross the city in a mere 20 minutes. The city center itself is easily walkable. And the green spaces (parks - woods - forest) account for 13.8% of its surface. Historically anchored in the heart of this great metropolis, The Solvay Brussels School of Economics and Management builds upon the city’s geo-strategic strengths to enable its students to become true international professionals with many networking capacities.
