Language Policy and Practice
This program is offered every other year (next in May 2017).

Learn how governments and institutions attempt to control language use in the U.S. and abroad through classwork and by observing language policy and language practice in Quebec, Canada.

Quebec City
 A three-week summer course set in the heart of French-speaking Canada.  Quebec City is a visual delight and will soon have you thinking you are strolling along the medieval walls of some quaint and wonderful historic European city.

The Course:
During this three-week, three-credit program, students will:

Learn how governments and institutions attempt to control language use in the U.S.and abroad

Observe language policy and language practice in action in Quebec, the heart of French-speaking Canada

Immerse themselves in Quebecois history and culture through visits to the Old City of Quebec, Château Frontenac, the Citadel, Champs de Bataille, and the Musée National des Beaux-Arts du QuebecClasses will be held on the campus of Laval University, which is well located for shopping and just minutes by bus from the historic old town. 

Interact with Canadian students who can also enroll in the class.


Who is eligible? Undergraduate and graduate students from all majors and colleges.
There are no prerequisites.
