ItalyWhy Italy?

John Cabot University is an American liberal arts university in the heart of Rome. Annual student enrollment is about eight-hundred, of which 35% are four-year degree-seeking students and 65% are visiting as study abroad students. Of the degree-seeking students, 28% are Italian. John Cabot University has over one-hundred faculty members, resulting in an average class size of 15 students.

John Cabot University offers 2 summer sessions of five weeks each for 3 or 6 credits each. Students may attend one session or both sessions.

John Cabot University is located within the historic center of Rome in the Trastevere neighborhood just south of Vatican City. This area is within walking distance to all of the main sites of central Rome.

All of the ISU Semester in Italy program locations in Italy are centrally situated, offering easy access to travel within the rest of Italy and throughout Europe.

During the summer programs, JCU organizes day trips to the Tivoli gardens with its majestic fountains and interesting lectures given by prominent guests in the University's outdoor courtyards. Wine-tasting seminars and gourmet cooking classes are also held on the University's top terrace, which commands spectacular views. Theme nights and welcome barbeques provide an opportunity for all students to get to know one another.

Summer students are also given special weekend beach passes to a nearby resort area. In addition, as part of the Summer Sports program, JCU offers belly-dancing, yoga, sailing and free access to neighborhood gyms and swimming pool. The diversity and richness of all that JCU offers during the summer is guaranteed to make these months unforgettable.

ISU registration for the term is a full-time placeholder registration listed as INTED.

For ISU study abroad programs at partner institutions abroad, courses offered for credit are automatically transferred to ISU. Transfer courses are usually listed at ISU with a general ending such as 100, 200, 300, or 400. To determine how these transfer courses are applied to specific degree requirements in your major/minor, speak with your academic advisor.
