Program Description:

Ireland Horticulture



Program overview

Students will travel to many areas of Ireland to experience its’ culture and rich history of agriculture and horticulture.  Ireland is home to many well respected greenhouses, public gardens, and nurseries. Students will complete a two-day service learning project at a historic garden. Students will also be able to visit many historic sites and monuments and natural features.  Students will interact with horticulture professionals and other students while in country.

Program fee:  approximately $3000-$3300 (includes: RT airfare, ground transportation, housing, entrance fees, CISI health and emergency insurance and some meals) 
Out of pocket expenses will vary depending on your personal spending habits.  Suggested out of pocket expenses include $100/week for incidentals, $380 for meals on your own, US passport ($135) and International Student Identification (ISIC) Card (~$26) (this may or may not be required for your program).  If you are a CALS student and a first time traveler without a passport, contact Mr. Jodi Cornell at for information on how to get a free passport.  ISU summer tuition and fees for 3 credits.

Tuition Scholarships: Tuition scholarships MAY be available at the rate of 100% for students in majors in the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences and at the rate of 75% for students in majors in other Colleges. There are also additional scholarships available for this program for CALS students.

Criteria for selection:  GPA - 2.0 or higher.  Successful and timely completion of the online application and essay question is required in order to be considered for selection in this course.
