Exchange and Internship in Brazil
What:
· Intensive Portuguese – four weeks before the start of the academic semester in Brazil. The intensive program is offered by the Federal University of Lavras, Minas Gerais State (no academic credits)
· Enroll in courses at either the Federal University of Vicosa or the Federal University of Campina Grande in Brazil for a full academic semester. Students typically take 12 credits during this semester. Upon completion of the courses, credits will come to ISU transcript as transfer credits
· Participate in an internship at your host university or with a company
Who:
· Students in the Colleges of Engineering or Agriculture and Life Sciences at ISU with interest in food and energy production or environmental stewardship
· It is expected that students will travel in their 3rd or 4th year at ISU but will start preparing in their 1st or 2nd year with language preparation
Where:
· Federal University of Vicosa is located in Minas Gerais State in Central Brazil
· Federal University of Campina Grande is located in Pernambuco State in Northeastern Brazil
Costs:
· Students pay ISU full time tuition and fees
· Students pay room, meals, supplies, incidentals out-of-pocket in Brazil
· Additional out-of-pocket expenses include: Passport, visa, insurance, airfare to/from Brazil, recreational activities in Brazil
Scholarships:
· Additional scholarships through departments, colleges and the university are possible as well
