The fee also includes airport pick-up and drop-off at program start and end, respectively, tuition for 12 to 18 credits, all application and registration fees, and program management. CEDEI provides 24/7 student support for the duration of the program. International insurance for the dates of the program is also part of the Ubill, plus program fee.

Some expenses such as airfare, incidentals, books and supplies, and local transportation are estimates. Study Abroad Administrative fee is not included in the program fee and will be listed separately on the Ubill for each student.

VISAS: Under Ecuador migration law, most foreign citizens may stay in Ecuador as tourists without a visa for up to 90 days (approximately 12 weeks), upon entry into Ecuador. However, since the semester is longer than 90 days, students enter as tourists (no fees) and then apply for an extension (appx $150) of their status as tourists before the end of the 90-day period.

Nonetheless, it is important to consider the following requirements that they might need to show for this extension:
  • Proof of international health insurance coverage.
  • Color copy of their passport
  • Visa fees: ($150 approximately) for the extension
Also, some ticket agents might want to see a visa in the students' passport when they check in at the airport because their stay will be longer than 90 days. If this happens, students should let them know that they will request an extension to stay in the country once in Ecuador.

These fees are estimates and subject to change due to currency exchange fluctuations and unforeseen circumstances. For clarification of any fees for this program, please contact LAS Study Abroad; lasstudyabroad@iastate.edu.
