Semester in Italy: John Cabot University

John Cabot University is an American liberal arts university in the heart of Rome. Annual student enrollment is about eight-hundred, of which 35% are four-year degree-seeking students and 65% are visiting as study abroad students. Of the degree-seeking students, 28% are Italian. John Cabot University has over one-hundred faculty members, resulting in an average class size of 15 students.

John Cabot University is located within the historic center of Rome in the Trastevere neighborhood just south of Vatican City. This area is within walking distance to all of the main sites of central Rome.


All of the ISU Semester in Italy program locations in Italy are centrally situated, offering easy access to travel within the rest of Italy and throughout Europe.

Language requirements
Classes are taught in English in all of the ISU Semester In Italy programs. Students do not need any prior Italian language. Students attending John Cabot University are encouraged to take an Italian language course.


Academics
As a four-year degree-granting American university, John Cabot has a comprehensive curriculum with course offerings at all levels. Courses are offered in Business Administration, Economics and Finance, Marketing, Art History, Studio Art, History, Classical Studies, Communications, Computer Science, Mathematics, Natural Science, English Composition, English Literature, Humanistic Studies, Philosophy, Music, International Affairs, Italian Studies, Political Science, Psychology, Religious Studies, Sociology, and Theatre and Film Studies.

Program Fee
The ISU Program Fee for Fall Semester 2009 is $9450 U.S.

The ISU Program Fee for John Cabot University includes tuition, fees, and airport shuttle service. The ISU Progam Fee is based on John Cabot University tuition and fee rates, not ISU tuition and fee rates. The ISU Program Fee is charged to students' ISU bill and during this term students are not charged regular ISU tuition and fees. Students pay independently for airfare, housing, and all other additional expenses. For a more detailed program budget, please select the "Budget Sheets" box at the top of this page.

Summer Programs
John Cabot University offers two summer sessions of five weeks each for 6 credits each. Students may attend one session or both sessions. The summer programs include an impressive selection of classes in the areas of Art History, Italian Studies, Business Administration, International Relations, Communications, and more. Summer Institutes are available in International Communication and Art Restoration.

John Cabot University Housing
Shared student apartments are available. Apartments typically house between 2 to 6 students. Apartments are furnished and include kitchens and laundry. Single bedrooms are available. Dorm-style residences (groups of apartments located in the same building) are also available. Dorm-style housing provides live-in Resident Assistants (RAs). The dorm-style option is mandatory for freshmen and minors on a semester program.
