The campus is one of the most beautiful in the country with lakes, parkland, and gardens with rare species of plants. It offers a safe and enjoyable environment for study. The teaching buildings, the Library, Postgraduate Centre, Sports Halls, and the student amenity buildings are all conveniently situated within walking distance of each other. The halls of residence and most of the university flats are only a short walk away so you will not have to waste time and money on traveling.
St Luke's
The second site in Exeter, the St. Luke's Campus, is just over a mile across the city. You will study here if you belong to the School of Education, the Peninsula Medical School (student exchange not available at the Medical School), or if you are studying exercise and sports sciences. Exeter and Surroundings
Exeter, with a population of approximately 115,000, is consistently rated as one of the best places to live in the UK, with a high quality of life and a low crime rate. It has something for everyone, whether your tastes are for exploring the city or enjoying the countryside. The city itself is only a 10 minute walk from the university. It is a safe student-friendly city where international students are made to feel welcome. Enjoy heritage, arts, festivals, and award winning locally produced food and drink.
With a touch of buzzy, big city atmosphere, a large student population, and a thriving arts scene, Exeter is one of the liveliest cities in the South West. The excellent selection of funky bars, cafes, and restaurants makes Exeter a vibrant place to be after dark. The city centre itself has a large range of high street stores, with a multi-million pound new shopping complex that has recently been completed in the city center.
But the real enjoyment of shopping in Exeter is to explore the side streets and some of the more unconventional shops, such as Cathedral Green with its bars and restaurants or Gandy Streetwith its diverse range of shops selling designer labels, jeweler,y and gifts. Exeter's arts centre, the Phoenix, offers top quality theatre, live music, exhibitions, and films.
As well as the Northcott Theatre on campus, Exeter has two smaller theatres, the Barnfield and the Northcott Studio Theatre.
Road and rail links with the rest of the UK are good. The main St David's station is only 10 minutes' walk away from the Streatham campus and has regular services to London and all major cities. London is just over 2 hours by train and around 3 hours away by road. Exeter also has its own regional airport with an increasing number of scheduled flights to the UK and Europe including flights to Paris, Amsterdam, Edinburgh, Glasgow, Dublin, Belfast, Manchester and many other UK cities.
The South West of England
The South West is one of Europe's top holiday destinations, and as a student in Exeter you will be able to enjoy it all year round. There are views of the Exe estuary from the campus, and the coastal town of Exmouth with its sandy beaches is just nine miles away. Venture beyond the city and explore the Jurassic Coast of East Devon and the National Parks of Dartmoor and Exmoor. Close by, the national parks of Dartmoor and Exmoor offer both wild scenery, which will challenge hikers, climbers, canoeists, horse riders, and cyclists, and gentler landscapes of rolling hills, rivers, and attractive market towns and villages.
