Notes:

This budget reflects the estimated costs of attending 3 weeks of classes at CPI, 4 hours of group class per day. Most expenses are paid directly to CPI.

The Standard Spanish Program with a small group 20 hours/week is $460/week. All ISU students will receive a 10% discount on the cost of their classes (as long as they are group classes). This 10% discount for ISU students is applied regardless of the duration of the student’s program at CPI.

Room includes homestay with breakfast and dinner. The cost per week for the homestay option is $200. Lunch is not provided by host family, but available for purchase on or near the campus you choose to study. Board/meals is the estimated budget item for the cost of lunch for 3 weeks. A typical lunch generally costs $6-$8. All ISU students will receive a 10% discount on the cost of their homestay (not applicable for apartments, only host families). Other accommodation options are available at a higher rate.

Local Transportation includes the cost of the arrival package ($118/student) and a one-night stay at a Bed & Breakfast near the airport, and one-way transportation to either Monteverde or Flamingo. CPI offers a complimentary airport pickup to students arriving in Heredia. If a student wishes to study at more than one campus, they will need to pay for the transportation between campuses each time they transfer: estimated $42-$62 one-way.

Please note: CPI program prices and invoices will include a 2% ‘Value Added Tax’ mandated by the Costa Rican Government.

These fees are estimates and subject to change due to currency exchange fluctuations and unforeseen circumstances. For clarification of any fees for this program, please contact LAS Study Abroad; lasstudyabroad@iastate.edu.
