Room estimate is based on 150 GBP per week for 24 weeks at the exchange rate of $1.29 to 1 GBP.  There are room types that are less expensive. Students will have some control over which room type they live in through the choices selected on their housing application.

Some examples of items in Anticipated Personal Expenses: SIM card and phone data plan, laundry, toiletries, entertainment, taxi/Uber rides. Personal trips to other cities or countries during weekends or breaks are not included in Anticipated Personal Expenses. To give you an idea, students can choose to spend anywhere from $1,000-$3,000 or more on additional travel while abroad.

For US Passport holders, a visa is only required if you plan to stay more than 6 months, work, volunteer, or intern during your study abroad program.  A visa will cost approximately $500.  If you hold a passport from another country, please consult with the program coordinator, Ben McKelfresh (bmckel@iastate.edu), to determine if a visa is required.

If a student withdraws after committing to a program, there could be withdrawal fees.
