Program Search Help

Through ISUAbroad, you have the ability to search program offerings. You can conduct a simple program search based on city, country, or term. If you want to see the type of programs offered in France or in Cape Town, this is the best way for you to begin your search.

If, however, you are looking for programs based on your GPA, the language of instruction, or what courses are available, you should conduct an advanced program search to narrow your program selections based on various criteria.

Types of Programs

When you see your search results, this is how they'll be arranged:

First in the list will be the Iowa State programs; these are led by ISU faculty and/or administered by ISU staff. In most cases, the program name will be in bold and will be preceded by "Iowa State".

Next you will see the list of affiliate programs. Affiliates are study abroad organizations that work with ISU to provide more options and to allow most of your costs to be placed on your ISU U-bill. You must apply through the affiliate provider and also complete an affiliate application through ISUAbroad. This will ensure that your ISU record will remain active while you are away and that your financial aid can be released to help finance the program. In addition, the affiliate provider may offer special affiliate scholarships or discounts because of its relationship with Iowa State.  Please check with your provider directly about application procedures and possible discounts or scholarships. For affiliate programs, the program name will be in standard type and will be preceded by "Affiliate".

Listed below the Iowa State and affiliate programs will be the non-affiliate provider programs. As with affiliate programs, you'll complete the provider application and the non-affiliate application on ISUAbroad.
This will ensure that your ISU record will remain active while you are away and that your financial aid can be released to help finance the program. The non-affiliate program status means that you will pay the provider directly and not through your ISU U-Bill. "Non-affiliate" will appear before the program name for these programs.

If your search doesn't provide what you're looking for, an additional option is to enroll through another U.S. institution or to enroll directly in a foreign institution. This application process must be completed under "Other Options" using the Non-ISU application. Financial aid and registration activation at ISU may still apply; please see the Study Abroad Center staff in 3224 MU for more information.
